Add a System/Host

Lets enabled users to insert hosts to monitor inside a generic system (System) previously created. In the next window the following fields must be highlighted:

System : A Generic System that collects hosts.

Hostname : Host name of the server to monitor.

IP : Ip address of the server.

Add a database to a system/host

If in the servers to monitor there is also a database its also possible to carry out checks on the database, using a script already available on ORTRO or inserting SQL instructions personalized at the moment of the creation of the job. If it is necessary to monitor only the database and not all the system, its possible to still use ORTRO, adding previously the system host in the servers list. The fields to be highlighted are the following:

System : Inside the drop down menu you will choose the generic system.

Hostname : The drop down menu will show the hosts associated to the System.

In the configuration of the database the following fields must be highlighted:

Label : Label to associate to the database. Can be unbound from the name of the database to make more intuitive the recognition of the DB.

Db Name/SID : You must insert the SID of the instance of the Database as indicated in the configuration of the same DB ( in Oracle its indicated in tnsnames.ora).

Port : Listening port of the DB.

DBMS : The drop down menu presents the variuos types of database from which to choose from to secure the best connection to the DB.

Add a Job

In the general window all the scheduled jobs are highlighted divided by systems previously added. For every single job its possible to have immediate information on:

Job Status There are 3 possible conditions in which you can find the job:

  • Wait : the job is regularly scheduled.
  • Running : the job is in execution
  • Lock : the job has been descheduled

Last Job Result : Gives a quick indication on the outcome of the last job executed.

  • Success : the job has been executed with success and the eventual expected condition of errors did not verify.
  • Warning : the job has terminated in an error. A job can terminate in error either in the case in which it has verified the condition of a expected error ( for example the overcoming of an alarm threshold), or either in the case in which there has been a problem in the execution of the job itself (for example the absence of connection).

To have more information on the reason of the Warning it will be sufficient to move the mouse close the the symbol .

Last Execution Time : Indicates the last time the job has been performed.

Next Execution Time : Indicates the time of execution of the next job.

Actions : Various icons are present based on the type of action that you want to do:

  • Show Details : Shows the details of the job.
  • Edit Settings : Enables to modify a job.
  • Copy : Creates a copy of an already existing job.
  • Delete : Deletes the job.
  • Lock : Pauses the scheduling of the job.
  • Unlock : Restarts the scheduling of the job.
  • Run Job : Lets the job run outside the normal schedule.

To add a new job it is necessary to select Add a job The next windows will very depending on the type of job to schedule. Every time a job is created it is necessary to select System, Host and, in case it has been associated, DB. For every system added it will be automatically visualized the list of the Host and of the DB. Once the selection of the host has been done it is necessary to fill:

Label : Indicate a name for the job.

Descryption : It is possible to indicate, if useful, the description of the job.

Priority : You must set a value between 1 and 100. The higher the value, the more important the job is.

Once the parameters above are setup, you must set the scheduling of the job:

Minutes : It is possible to choose between various options:

  • Every Minute : Executes the job every minute.
  • Every 5/15/30 Minutes : Executes the job at a distance of 5/15/30 minutes.
  • Custom : using this option it will be possible to select the exact minute to start the job.

Hour : Also in this case various options are possible:

  • Every Hour : the job will be executed every hour.
  • Every 6/12 Hour : the job will be executed every 6/12 hours (0,6,12,18,24 or 12,24).
  • Custom : using this option it will be established the exact start time of the job.
